GOV. MALLOY: SANDY HOOK ADVISORY COMMISSION TO HEAR FROM INFRASTRUCTURE DESIGN, SAFETY & SECURITY EXPERTS FRIDAY
 
(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Sandy Hook Advisory Commission is next scheduled to meet on Friday, February 8, at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford, where they will hear testimony from experts in the field of infrastructure design, safety and security.
 
The Sandy Hook Advisory Commission is a 16-member panel of experts created by Governor Malloy and chaired by Hamden Mayor Scott Jackson, charged with reviewing current policy and making specific recommendations in the areas of public safety, with particular attention paid to school safety, mental health, and gun violence prevention.
 
Experts scheduled to testify at Friday’s meeting include:
 
  • Diane Harp Jones: Chief Executive Officer of the Connecticut Chapter of the American Institute of Architects
 
  • Randall S. Luther: Tai Soo Kim Architects
 
  • Richard Munday: Newman Architects
 
  • Richard T. Connell: S/L/A/M Collaborative
 
  • Jim LaPosta: JCJ Architects
 
  • Kenneth S. Trump: President of National School Safety and Security Services
 
  • Mila Kennett: Project Manager for the Infrastructure Protection and Disaster Management Division of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
 
  • Robert Mahoney: Executive Director of the Emergency Management Group, LLC and a retired FBI agent
 
The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. in Room 2C.
